Sole Paint - Anti-Odor & Antibacterial sole and frog dressing

Sole Paint is a brush-on sole conditioner especially helpful for foot odor often associated with thrush in stabled horses.

Sole Paint has a somewhat sticky consistency similar to HoneyHeel but is thin enough to be painted onto the underside of the hoof and frog. We designed it when we realized that HoneyHeel, despite not having specific antifungal ingredients was nearly as effective at eliminating foot odor as Sole Cleanse Spray due to its ability to stay in contact with the area longer (and the honey in it!). However it didn't go very far at all so we needed another product that worked out less expensive to use but even more effective.

Due to it being a paint we can make it with a much higher concentration of Zinc Sulphate, Honey and add Zinc Oxide, Eucalyptus and Coconut oil to give it a very powerful effect. We recommend Sole Paint for stubborn foot odor and discoloration often associated with thrush that can be treated at least weekly.

Sole Paint contains:

• Green french clay - An antibacterial clay that gives the paint its unique consistency.

• Bio-active honey - Raw honey has antibacterial and antifungal properties and a sticky consistency to help Sole Paint stay in place.

• Zinc oxide - A powerful but gentle antibacterial agent that fights bacteria and fungi on the foot and encourages healthy sole and frog growth.

• Eucalyptus oil - A highly effective antifungal and antibacterial essential oil that helps to toughen weakened structures.   

• Zinc Sulphate - A powerful, non-caustic antifungal agent.

• Coconut oil - A gentle oil that has antifungal and conditioning properties and helps to create a paint-like consistency.

All of the ingredients in Sole Paint are natural and have been chosen to aid the condition of the sole and frog or improve the consistency of the product.

Uses:

Generally Sole Paint is used for stabled horses whereas for field kept horses Field Paste often performs better.

Field Paste has a longer lasting effect than Sole Paint but can cause bedding to become stuck to the foot. Sole Paint is easier to apply (with a brush) than Field Paste but is removed by mud etc. more easily.

FAQ:

Should I be using Field Paste, Sole Paint or Sole Cleanse for my thrushy horse?

For mild cases regular use of Sole Cleanse is advised, once problems are cleared up this is easy to apply and inexpensive to use as a preventative. For more severe cases or where regular use is not possible use Field Paste in turned out horses and Sole Paint in stabled horses or in drier weather outside.

Using Sole Paste is very simple:

Paint with a brush applicator onto a clean (ideally dry and wire-brushed) sole and frog after picking out, paying special attention to colateral grooves and other cracks. Ideally prior to exposure to muddy fields.

For use in stabled horses paint on thinly to prevent clogging the feet with bedding.

Replace once the smell of the essential oils subsides or there is no sign of the paint still on the feet. Once problems subside apply weekly as a preventative measure in muddy conditions or longer in dry conditions.
