Field Paste - Conditioning frog and sole dressing - 750g

Field Paste cleanses and conditions the underside of the horse’s foot, helping frogs and soles stay strong and healthy.  Its ingredients promote the natural growth of healthy tissue, especially when rubbed well into the surface of the frog. The active agents also help the hoof and frog tissue to toughen without being caustic or damaging.  The thick, paste-like consistency allows Field Paste to stay in the deep grooves of the foot for longer than thinner solutions.

Too thick to be painted on, Field Paste should be applied with a gloved hand. For stabled horses it is often better to use Sole Paint otherwise bedding gets stuck to the hoof and it is easier to apply.

Available in 2 Sizes = 750g or 1800g

Field Paste contains:

  • Green french clay - A bentonite/montmorillionite clay that gives the paste its unique consistency.
  • Bio-active honey - Raw honey has antibacterial and antifungal properties and makes the paste sticky.
  • Zinc oxide - A powerful but gentle antibacterial agent that fights bacteria and fungi and supports natural sole and frog growth.
  • Tea tree oil - An essential oil well known for its bacteria and fungus fighting abilities.
  • Eucalyptus oil - A highly effective antifungal and antibacterial essential oil that helps to toughen weakened structures.
  • Zinc Sulphate - A powerful, non-caustic, antifungal agent.

All the natural ingredients in Field Paste have been chosen either for their cleansing and drawing properties or to improve the consistency of the paste.

Uses:

Generally Field Paste is used for field kept horses where as for stabled horses Sole Paint often performs better.

Field Paste has a longer lasting effect then Sole Paint but can cause bedding to become stuck to the foot. Sole Paint is easier to apply (with a brush) than Field Paste but is removed by mud etc. more easily.

  • Thrushy conditions
  • White line health (where white line is actually degraded, look at Artimud or Hoof-Stuff instead)
  • Hoof hardening
  • General sole and frog health

FAQ:

Should I be using Field Paste, Sole Paint or Sole Cleanse for my thrushy horse?

For mild cases regular use of Sole Cleanse is advised, once problems are cleared up this is easy to apply and inexpensive to use as a preventative. For more severe cases or where regular use is not possible use Field Paste in turned out horses and Sole Paint in stabled horses or in drier weather outside.

Feedback:

"Field Paste is fantastic, easy to use and really works, I would recommend it to anyone!"
Alex Gallagher, Kent.

"I have found Red Horse Products all to be excellent. With Field Paste clearing up persistent thrush in the case of one stallion despite our scrupulous management. "
Heather Moffett, Enlightened Equitation

"I just wanted to say how fantastic field paste is! I got a companion horse who arrived with really stinky feet and who wasn’t at all keen on me holding them up for very long so I quickly smothered them in field paste and within 2 days the difference was amazing! I now use it regularly in winter so my field kept horses feet get a break from the mud and it does a great job, my trimmer has been really impressed with their frog health"
Michelle Powers.

Using Field Paste is very simple:

Smear onto a clean (ideally dry and wire-brushed) sole and frog after picking out, paying special attention to collateral grooves and other cracks. Ideally prior to exposure to muddy fields.

For use in stabled horses smear on thinly to prevent clogging the feet with bedding. Or use Sole Paint instead!

Replace once the smell of the essential oils subsides or there is no sign of the paste still on the feet. Once problems subside apply weekly as a preventative in muddy conditions or longer in dry conditions.
